VP donates to flood victims

The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi on Tuesday donated food hampers, clothes and blankets to three families who were affected by floods in Moshupa.

Some parts of Moshupa experienced heavy rains which damaged houses, bridges and brought misery to some families.

Giving the food hampers and clothes, Mr Masisi said the items were donated by some business people after seeking help from them.

He implored other Batswana to extend a helping hand to the flood victims, adding that a thorough assessment would be made to determine what could be replaced.

Goods such as furniture and utensils would be bought for the affected families, he said.

Mr Masisi who also Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana constituency appealed to Batswana to assist not only during floods but at all times when there was a need.

When receiving the gifts, the Masemola, Kgasa and Bohula families thanked the Vice President for his goodwill.

They said it was their first experience since they settled at those places.

Earlier when briefing the Vice President, Water Utilities Corporation personnel indicated that they had mended and reconnected the water pipes which had bursted.

They also promised to put five JoJo tanks in Moshupa as a temporary relief measure. ENDS
