A Columbiana woman was taken into custody Tuesday after police say she brandished a gun on the loading dock of a Calera business.
Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley said the incident happened about 1:45 p.m. at Alabama Furniture Market on Commercial Park Drive. The chief said the woman, armed with a pistol, went onto the loading dock and starting shouting someone's name.
The store employees locked the store doors and called 911. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and took the woman into custody. No shots were fired, and no one was injured.
Lemley said the woman did not know anyone who worked at the store and police don't yet know why she was there. She was arrested for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, all misdemeanor crimes. Her name is being withheld pending formal charges.
