Ghostbuster’s Ball held
The Park Ridge Park District’s Ghostbuster’s Ball will be held Oct. 26 inside the O’Connor Community Building at Prospect Park, 733 N. Prospect Ave.
The ball will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to children ages 3 and up with an adult. Music and a dessert buffet will be featured, and children can enter to win a costume contest, according to the park district.
Cost is $30 per couple for residents and $36 per couple for nonresidents. Register online at www.prparks.org with activity number 5151028-01.
Pumpkin patch continues
Park Ridge Community Church’s Pumpkin Patch will be open through Oct. 31, or while pumpkins last, at the corner of Prospect and Crescent avenues in Uptown.
The patch will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday and from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. There will be no sales on Monday.
The movie “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” will be shown at sundown on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27, the church said.
Church women’s group holds rummage sale
Methodist Women’s Attic to Basement Rummage Sale will take place Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 at First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, 418 W. Touhy Ave.
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature clothing, household goods, games, toys, tools, small appliances, small furniture, jewelry, books, linens, dishes and holiday items, according to the church. Parking is available in the church’s Grant Place lot, located north of the church and east of Prospect Avenue.
Historical Society fundraiser to feature Geoffrey Baer
Television personality and Chicago tour guide Geoffrey Baer of WTTW is scheduled to tell stories about Park Ridge and Chicago history during the Park Ridge Historical Society’s upcoming fundraiser on Nov. 3 from 7 to 10 p.m.
The fundraiser will take place in the O’Connor Building at Prospect Park, 733 N. Prospect Ave. Proceeds from the event will be used to for remodeling and operational costs at the new Park Ridge History Center, also located at Prospect Park, the historical society said.

Holiday bazaar at Centennial
Treasures and Trinkets Holiday Bazaar will take place Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Centennial Activity Center, 100 S. Western Ave.
This Park Ridge Park District sale will feature handmade holiday crafts, sweaters, afghans, and baked goods. Lunch items will also be available to purchase, according to the park district.
Pumpkin ‘Smash and Bash’
The Park Ridge Park District’s annual Pumpkin Smash and Bash will be held Nov. 3 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Centennial Park sled hill, 100 S. Western Ave.
Participants are invited to bring Halloween pumpkins to roll down the sled hill, smash, and launch into piles of compost, according to the park district.
Candles, stickers and other objects should be removed from pumpkins prior to the event.
The event is free, but registration is required at www.prparks.org with activity number 5150015-01.
Free trade market held
St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Park Ridge will host a Free Trade Market on Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Parish Life Center, Washington and Summit avenues.
Items from Columbia, Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, Peru, Mexico, Nepal, Bali, the United States and other countries will be featured. They include baskets, jewelry, ornaments, scarves, coffee, chocolate and more.
