ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team was on the road in Estherville, Iowa Wednesday for a doubleheader with Iowa Lakes Community College. The Hawks fell in Game 1 by a final score of 1-0 but battled back for a 11-8 victory in Game 2.

Northeast (18-25, 6-12 ICCAC) gave the ball to Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) and she was fantastic as she has been throughout much of her freshman campaign as she tossed all six innings in the circle and allowed just two hits while striking out six batters. The run support never came, but Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) and Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) both recorded two hits each in the showdown.

Kaia Kollmar (Norfolk, Neb.) helped ensure that the Hawks would have a few more runs to show for their efforts in Game 2 as she tallied four hits and two RBIs. Ahlemeyer, Lauby and Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.) all also had two RBIs and Raburn recorded seven more strikeouts to push Northeast ahead of the Lakers in the final matchup of the two teams during the regular season.
