Xi says China, Venezuela are good partners of mutual trust and common development

Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday that China and Venezuela are good partners of mutual trust and common development, and China will, as always, firmly support Venezuela in safeguarding sovereignty, national dignity and social stability.

Xi made the remarks while meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War.

Xi pointed out that China and Venezuela are good partners of mutual trust and common development, and the two sides have forged an ironclad friendship amid the changing global situation.

Since the two sides announced the elevation of the China-Venezuela relationship to an all-weather strategic partnership in 2023, China and Venezuela have had active exchanges at all levels in various fields, Xi said.

The bilateral trade volume has continued to grow, new progress has been made in investment cooperation and cultural exchanges, and China-Venezuela friendship has taken root more deeply in the hearts of the people, Xi added.

China is willing to work with Venezuela and other Latin American countries to firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law and promote the steady and long-term development of the China-Latin America and Caribbean community with a shared future, Xi said.

For his part, Maduro said that China is Venezuela's good friend and expressed his gratitude to China for the country's all-along valuable support and assistance to Venezuela in safeguarding sovereignty and economic and social development. 

Venezuela looks forward to strengthening its all-weather strategic partnership with China, deepening cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, science and technology, education and other fields, and achieving more tangible results to better benefit the two peoples, Maduro said.

The concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi has opened up bright prospects for world peace and development, Maduro said, adding that Venezuela is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China, adhere to multilateralism, defend international fairness and justice, and safeguard the common interests of the international community.
